Why our clients prefer Preferred Machine Tools

When you buy used, you need to be able to trust your sources. When you know who deserves your trust, you can buy sight unseen!

l   Who buys equipment sight unseen? David Wolfe, of Wolfe Racecraft, bought two of the four machines he’s gotten through Preferred exactly that way. “One is the best machine ever, and the other one was good.” The hands-on maker says he typically bought used equipment that needed repairs and refurbished it — but I bought an Okuma from her that’s perfect, runs great. Like the Hurco I bought two years ago.“ Preferred owner Judy Griggs, he adds, is thorough: “Most times she’ll have very detailed info about the equipment she finds for you. If she doesn’t know the answer to a question you have about the machine’s capability, she’ll find out.” He goes as far as to say “I won’t even consider another source — I know she’ll find something that’ll work for me.”

l   Dennis Bowen, of Durant, Oklahoma’s Tetrachem, says his business caters almost exclusively to the oilfield industry. He recently purchased his second used Daewoo lathe; it was also his second transaction with Judy Griggs’s Preferred Machine Tool, and it’s unlikely to have been his last. To produce the seals, seats, bearings and other parts his clients order, Dennis buys only used equipment.               He’s a repeat customer of Preferred Machine, he relates, because of owner Judy Griggs’s savvy and her network of contacts. “When I need something I call Judy — she has the expertise and access, pretty much nationwide — and let her tap into that and start looking for a really special machine. She’s come up with excellent equipment for me now, twice. I don’t know what more anybody can ask.”

When You Must Liquidate, you need someone who can do it fast and get you the best returns.

l   Preferred Machine Tools liquidated Dick Payton’s Dal-Matic, when he shut down his plant. That must have been a wrench; but, Payton says, it went “just super — Judy did a great job; I’d recommend it to anybody.” He was very happy with the prices he got. “The only thing she could have done that would have made me any happier would have been sold all the equipment for four times what it was worth!”

 ********************************************

When you need a machine, you need it now. And you don’t pay new prices for used tools.

l   What most impressed Rich Caswell, of Pennsylvania’s Caswell Machine, about dealing with Judy Griggs was that she “found me what I wanted — and didn’t take long.”

l   Mario Garcia, of Houston’s Herconn, says that the two used Hurco machines Herconn bought through Judy were up and running on his shop floor within two weeks of the time his company saw them on Preferred’s Website. “We did an Internet search for used Hurcos, and she had just what we wanted — two that were not too old, and one had a 4th axis, which we needed.” Further, he says, he’d recommend Preferred Machine Tool to “anybody in business to make money: We bought two used for about the cost of one new one, @$70,000 each. Contrast that to the $112K we spent on a new Hurco a year ago.”

l   Tetrachem’s Dennis Bowen relates, “The type materials we use — all plastics — isn’t hard on equipment. If we buy used and take good care of it, it’ll last a long time and work just fine — at 50% of the cost of buying new.”

l   KK LaFleur, who owns LaFleur Petroleum of Weatherford, Texas, says that what most impressed him about dealing with Preferred Machine Tools was the “Reaction time — and competitive prices.” The service, he adds, was “very prompt and responsive, and the equipment has always been as represented.”

l   David Wolfe warns that sometimes Judy’s faster than expected: “Once you get the ball rolling, you need to be ready to move. I once told her, ‘Judy, in six months, I need to be looking for a certain kind of machine, so keep an eye out.’ She’d found me the machine, and I’d bought it, within a month.”

 *******************************************

You want to know that the company you buy through will help you handle problems along the way. And you don’t want problems.

l   When Buddy Johnston of Amtex bought a CNC lathe through Preferred Machine, he says, “It took a little longer than it might have, but it wasn’t her fault; she took care of the problem, and she didn’t have to. And it turned out to be a good machine.”

l   Lyle McCoy, of Central Dynamics, agrees: “She tries to be fair; she does her research and comes to you prepared.” And does he have any suggestions for improving her service? “No, service and everything went just fine, really good.”

Looking for an equipment broker, seller or appraiser you can count on?

l   KK La Fleur says, “We always go to Judy first. And if she can’t help you, she’ll usually be able to point you to somebody who can.”

l   Eastland, Texas, machining company owner Rodney Mitchell agrees: “You bet I’d recommend her, and I do, a lot. I’m really satisfied with the equipment she found me — one was an ’87 and one an ’80 model, and I have put both of them to hard use on big parts.”

l   Wolfe Racecraft owner David Wolfe has decided, “Customer service is great; she always follows through and makes sure you’re satisfied. I’ve been self-employed for 12 years, so I appreciate professional performance and attitude. That’s why next time I need something, I won’t go anywhere else.”

*******************************************

You want to keep your tool operators happy, right? Especially if that’s you.

l   Tooter, shop foreman for Mike McQuery’s McQuery Industries, loves the equipment they’ve gotten from Preferred: “They’re good old machines. No surprises with quality, except on that last one the tool-changer was acting funky. But that’s just a little piddling thing, and no problem. The last one Judy found us was from way up in Indiana; all three have been sound mechanically, everything worked as advertised.”

l   David Wolfe uses his own machines. He says, “I’m tickled with the quality — every machine I’ve ever gotten from her has been clean and working when I got it. When I buy another machine, it’ll be from Judy.”
